Tanzania Elections 2025: EAC Election Observers Arrive

East African Community (EAC) Election Observers Deployed to Tanzania for General Elections

The East African Community (EAC) has officially deployed election observers to Tanzania ahead of the 2025 General Elections, reinforcing the region’s commitment to credible democratic processes.

Mission Launch and Objectives

This deployment follows an official invitation from the Government of Tanzania and aligns with directives from the EAC Council, which mandates election monitoring in all member states.

The head of the mission, former Vice President of Uganda, Dr. Speciosa Wandira Kazibwe, addressed the launch, stressing the importance of transparent and fair elections.

“As a community founded on principles of good governance, rule of law, and respect for human rights, the EAC regards credible elections as the foundation of democracy and regional integration,” said Dr. Kazibwe.

Role of the EAC Secretary-General

EAC Secretary-General, Hon. Veronica Nduva, noted that the mission will issue a preliminary report shortly after the elections, followed by a comprehensive final report. These reports will outline findings and provide recommendations to strengthen future electoral processes across the region.

Observer Activities

The observers will engage with electoral stakeholders, monitor final campaign activities, and observe election-day procedures at polling stations, including voting, vote counting, and result announcements.

Tanzania General Elections 2025

Tanzania’s general elections are scheduled for Wednesday, 29 October 2025. Citizens will vote to elect the President, Members of Parliament, and local councilors.
